Habit and habitat.

Along the Mid Hills to Hole-in-the-Wall Trail, at ca. 4500 feet.
Yucca schidigera is at left.  The tape measure is set at 12 inches.
The greyish mass about two-thirds of the way up in the Opuntia is an old nest.
