Darkling Beetle

A member of the Family Tenebrionidae (Darkling Beetles), Order Coleoptera (Beetles),
Class Insecta (Insects), Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods), Kingdom Animalia (Animals)

Adult; this group of beetles are often called "stink bugs", since they can
emit a foul-smelling substance when disturbed.

This one is about an inch long.

Walking across Hole in the Wall to Mid Hills Trail, a mile or two northwest of Hole in the Wall,
at ca. 4400 feet elevation.
