Antirrhinum filipes

Yellow Twining Snapdragon

A member of the Scrophulariaceae, the Figwort Family

Flowers.

This species twines around other plants for support.
Probably all of the stems in focus in this image belong to the snapdragon,
and none to the support plant.

Near entrance sign along Essex Road, at ca. 2175 feet elevation.

Twining stems in bloom.

Same plant as in prior images.  The support plant in this case appears
to be a dead shrub.  The snapdragon is not a parasite, though, and does not
gain any nourishment from the plant over which it twines.

Habitat.

Same plant as in prior images.  The large, olive green shrubs in the background
are creosote bush, Larrea tridentata.
